From embryological consideration; (Keith* 1948; Hasvey & Burr, 1926; Johnstone, 1946) the two layers of meninges i.e. pia a nd arachnoidmater as well as the brain are developed from the ectodermal tissue, whereas, the duramater is developed from mesderm. It is not distinctly clear, why the mycobacterium tuber* culosis has affinity for the tissue derived from ectoderm and not for those derived from mesoderm, and that is why, the brain and spinal cord together with pia and arachnoid are involved in this disease process but the duramater escape.
